Part of enjoying a vacation means being able to leave the average and everyday worries behind so that you can focus on all the fun you'll be having abroad. The best way you can accomplish this is by making sure everything is taken care of at home. And, the best way to do this is to make a list.
Listed below are some things you should remember doing before your trip. Some of these might not apply to you and your situation. That's okay, too. Just use what's applicable in the formation of your own pre-flight to-do checklist.
1. Do something about your pets. Cat, fish, dog, ferret - whatever kind of pet you have, make sure he or she is taken care of. Arrange to have a neighbor look in on them or, in the case of a dog or cat, consider a kennel.
2. Halt the mail. Let your postal carrier know the situation and how long they need to halt mail delivery. That way your packages and newspapers won't stack up giving a clear indication that you aren't home.
3. Remember to lock the doors and windows.
That last one is pretty obvious. If, however, you still aren't quite sure of your home's safety, it might be time to look into home security. You don't' want to be miles away from home and still worrying about it so check out this website and others like it to learn more.

1. Bring toys and games that will keep them interested. Bring a portable DVD player and some movies. This could be your best way of keeping them entertained on long journeys.
2. Pack hand sanitizer. With so much sight seeing, your bundle of joy might be touching and grabbing at things that might not be so desirable. It is better to be safe than sorry.
3. Instead of a stroller, use a carrier. Visiting old cities sometimes is not stroller friendly.
4. Pack snacks in case you don't have time to stop.
5. Plan a trip with less packed in. Plan for some down time or extra pool time. Sightseeing might be too much for your little one to take in.
6. Arrive early. With kids come unexpected surprises. Don't let one of those unexpected surprises happen ten minutes before your plane takes off.
7. Get them involved. Your little one might be more excited and less anxious if they have helped plan what is on your agenda.
8. Don't forget medications.
9. Try to fit in some "Me" time. If you can stick your spouse with baby duty, a nice massage could make your trip even better than without kids.
10. Laugh. Vacation is supposed to be fun.

What makes a certain location an ideal destination to visit? The answer to that question is subject to personal opinion. Not everyone has the same interests or expectations when traveling which makes the perfect destination or vacation solely a personal preference.
Whether you prefer the beach, the mountains, historical venues, amusement parks or cultural destinations, a memorable vacation begins with good planning. Once you've decided who is going and when, review everyone's interests and/or expectations for this trip.
