Have we heard of In bus/In car/In metro services??And everything taking a full u turn, there is a strong possibility(SOURCE NOT KNOWN)that 30-40 yrs,may be quicker inflight services becomes history. As the same yrs in past,it was almost unheard of,or if it was of a minimal detail.More and more airports are coming up.I have seen places with informal land/marine transport are developing airports, and the skies are flooded with flying machines.Instantly, with the world getting smaller and more flatter, airtransport has become point A to point B,in shortest, cheapest, least hassle way.On the other hand,no-frill airlines(I travel a lot on them),have actually seen pax carrying their snacks/pepsies/bhajiyas,and a family actually had tiffin arguing with crew to give them seats together,to facilitate their mama made-inflight-dining.
So the whole chain of menu planning/product development/procurement/logistics/inventory control/on board provisioning/crew etc etc.........Futile.People in late thirties, early fourties,do not worry. We can retire peacefully,by the time we reach U turn.Be cautious, young guns........The grass is always greener on the other side.

That's an interesting point, you've made Vipin. From the examples you've cited, there are some chances of disappearing on-board catering/dining service, either partially or even fully. It also raises an interesting question of whether our younger generation (Yuppies may be!) are still interested in working in the airline catering industry, following the tradition of their moms & dads...??
